"A wonderful lakeside haven."

In November 2020, I self-isolated for 2 weeks at The Lake House at Cudworth Manor near Newdigate, Surrey, UK, and spent a third week there with my wife, Amanda. It truly is a special place – quiet and private, with its own lake (bonus points for the adjacent ‘pub’ with big screen which is perfect for sport lovers and is decorated with some interesting rugby/football/cricket memorabilia). The good news is that it’s now available for self catering breaks, and with staycations the order of the day, I can personally attest that there’s no better spot for a relaxing break (NB have friends over for barbies/drinks as lockdown is wound up). It sleeps 2–3 but would really suit a couple (with optional child) as the main bedroom is accessed from the living room by way of the small bedroom and bathroom. TLH is beautifully furnished and decorated (with at-whim central heating plus solid fuel stove, toasteeee); a really comfy cabin set in wonderful countryside with lots of walks (and some notable local hostelries).

Owners Jo and Richard are lovely people and bend over backwards to make you feel at home; nothing is too much trouble for them. They made sure I had such a good stay, I’m very happy to give them my unreserved imprimatur.”
